Client told me my blowouts were flat and it stung but she was right
Last month I had a regular client look me dead in the mirror and say "your blowouts have no volume at the crown." I was so embarrassed but she wasn't being mean, she was just honest. I realized I had been rushing through the rough drying step because I wanted to save time. Now I take the extra 5 minutes to really lift the roots with a round brush while the hair is still 80% wet. I focus on directing the air upward at the crown instead of just blasting it everywhere. The difference is huge. My clients keep complimenting how full their hair looks now. Has anyone else changed a basic technique after a client pointed something out? What was it?

Wait, isn't the rough drying more about getting out bulk than building volume (like, the real work comes after with the brush)?

Yeah that's a good point, rough drying is mostly just getting the bulk out before you do the real shaping.
