Rant: My leftover stir fry turned into a soggy mess and I refuse to feel bad about it
Last Tuesday I tossed random veggies and some old chicken into a pan, thinking I'd whip up a quick dinner. Problem was, the zucchini had been sitting in the fridge for 6 days and leaked water everywhere, making everything steam instead of fry. I ended up with a grayish pile that tasted fine but looked like something from a swamp. People always say to pat veggies dry, but when you're cooking with leftovers, you work with what you got. Anyone else embrace the ugly meals that still get the job done?

Bro that sounds exactly like something I'd do lol. I had a similar thing happen last week with some broccoli that had been hanging out in the drawer for like 8 days. It went all limp and released this weird water into the pan, turned my whole stir fry into a sad soupy mess. But honestly I ate the whole bowl while watching TV and it hit the spot just fine. I swear ugly meals taste better anyway because you have no expectations, you just shovel it down and move on with your life.

Wait hold on @bens81 you ate that whole sad soupy broccoli mess? Bro I'm honestly impressed. I would have stared at it for 10 minutes debating if I should just order pizza instead. My stomach is turning just thinking about limp broccoli water seeping into everything. But you're right about ugly meals though, there's zero pressure to impress yourself so you just scarf it down and zone out to whatever show is on. I've definitely eaten some questionable rice bowls that looked like a crime scene but tasted fine enough. Still, 8 day old broccoli is a bold move even for me and I eat expired yogurt like it's no big deal.
