Dollar store cutting boards nearly cost me a finger
I bought a $1.50 plastic cutting board last month in a pinch and it literally shattered into shards while I was chopping carrots, sending a jagged piece flying into my palm. Lost about $60 in urgent care copay plus the ruined dinner ingredients. Has anyone else had cheap kitchen stuff turn dangerous on them?

Used to think cheap kitchen gear was just as good but this story TOTALLY changed my mind. My own cheap spatula melted into a black goo on my pan last week and I almost ate plastic flakes with my eggs. Spending a few extra dollars on proper cutting boards and utensils is WAY cheaper than an ER visit.

Oh man, you're so right about the cutting boards... I learned that lesson the hard way too. Bought a cheap bamboo board and it was literally splintering into my food after like two months. Couldn't even see the tiny wood pieces in my soup until I bit into one. And don't even get me started on those flimsy silicone spatulas that stain and hold onto smells forever. I've got one that still smells like garlic no matter how many times I wash it, it's haunting me.
