Why does nobody talk about how estimating software changed the Friday bid rush
Back in 2008 I worked for a small GC in Toledo and every Friday meant spreading paper plans across the shop table with a scale ruler, highlighter, and a fax machine waiting on supplier quotes. Took us almost 6 hours to push out 3 bids, and one missed decimal on a concrete takeoff cost us around $14,000 on a school job. Now I can pull a digital takeoff in under an hour, but I still miss the noise of the whole crew arguing over the same sheets. Does anyone else feel like the speed is nice but you lost something in the switch?
