Pro tip: I used to eyeball rebar spacing, now a $12 app checks it in 30 seconds
Three months ago I was on a mid-rise pour in Reno and my inspector flagged two spots where my spacing drifted past 1/4 inch off spec. I had been doing it the old way for 12 years, tape measure and a can of spray paint, marking off as I went. Now I take a phone pic of the mat and a layout app overlays the grid and tells me right where the misses are. Last week it caught three bad ties before the inspector even walked up. It costs me maybe $12 a month and has saved me at least two re-pours. Anyone else using pics or an app for layout checks, or am I the only one who got tired of guessing?
