Can we talk about how I stopped trusting GPS stakeout after a chat with a grader operator in Amarillo?
I always set my stakes right off the GPS unit and never second guessed it. Then a grader operator named Ray on a job off I-40 in Amarillo asked me to pull a couple of his stakes and check them against the plans by hand. Two of them were off by almost 8 inches, and he said he sees that a few times a year when the base station drifts. Now I shoot the corners with a level and tape once before I trust anything digital. Anyone else run into this, or was Ray just unlucky?
