Tried the 5 Whys method on a moon landing argument and it fell apart in 4 questions
Me and this guy at my gym in Tulsa got into it about the moon landings, and I usually just walk away from that stuff. Instead I tried that 5 Whys trick from a work meeting, just asking him why he believed each thing he said. By question four he was saying the flag waving proves it, and he couldn't explain why wind matters when the flag was on a stiff rod. He got quiet and switched to talking about his truck. Has anyone else used the 5 Whys on a debate like this, or does it just come off as smug?
