Bought a $300 power trowel attachment that I used exactly once

Last month I got talked into one of those high speed power trowel attachments for my walk behind, thought it would save me hours on a big garage floor job in Dayton. The salesman made it sound like night and day, but I rent a machine for these jobs anyway and this thing took forever to set up, kept bogging down in the mix, and I still had to hand finish the edges like always. Ended up returning it after one use and ate the 15% restocking fee, so about $45 gone for nothing. My buddy said he had the same issue with his and just sticks to his regular trowel blades, no fancy add on. Is there a trick to running these things right or are they mostly gimmicks for people with way bigger crews than mine? Has anyone else here got burned by a tool that looked good in the catalog but flopped on site?

I spent $450 on a cordless grinder attachment that shook my arms numb after 20 minutes. Real talk, those power trowel things only shine on huge pours with a crew of three. For a one-man garage job, you're just fighting the machine. Save your money and stick with manual floats, learned that lesson the hard way too. That restocking fee hurts though, I feel you.
