Just saw a stat about SSD failure rates that blew my mind

I've been building and fixing PCs for like 15 years now, and I always thought Samsung SSDs were pretty much bulletproof. But I came across a report from Backblaze last week showing their 2023 failure rates for consumer SSDs, and Samsung actually had a higher failure rate than some of the brands I usually avoid. Specifically, their 870 Evo drives had a 2.4% annualized failure rate, while some cheaper brands were under 1%. I was legit surprised because I've recommended Samsung drives to so many people. Has anyone else seen data that changed their mind on a brand they trusted?

Yeah, same happened to me with Seagate HDDs a few years back.

That "2.4% failure rate" stat for the 870 Evo caught me off guard too. I always thought they were the safe bet, but now I'm second guessing my whole Samsung preference.
