Had 3 walk-in jobs in one Tuesday turn into 3 no-fix calls by lunch
Two were unplugged power strips and one was a loose SATA cable the client's cat had been sleeping on. What's your record for drive time vs actual repair time in a single morning?
I used to roll my eyes at guys who said "check the simple stuff first" because I figured that was just lazy tech advice for rookies. Now I keep a spare power strip and SATA cable in my bag and I run through the dumb checks before I even pull out a screwdriver. Last month I drove 45 minutes each way to plug in a monitor cable, so yeah, the drive time always wins.
