Found a fix for a weird network drop that stumped me for weeks
I had this one office client where their computers would lose internet for 2-3 seconds every 45 minutes on the dot. Drove me crazy swapping cables and drivers. Turned out it was a bad power supply on their main switch that sagged voltage just enough to reset the network chip. After I swapped that switch out, it's been solid for about 3 months now. Has anyone else run into a weird intermittent issue that ended up being a power problem?

Actually that's not quite right about the voltage sag resetting the network chip. Most modern switches will just drop packets or show errors before the chip actually resets when voltage dips. Did you check the switch logs for that kind of stuff before swapping it?

@carr.brooke you make a good point about the logs. I checked them but only briefly. Voltage dips are sneaky like that. They cause all sorts of weird little problems that people blame on the first thing they see. It reminds me of how people buy a new phone case every time their screen cracks instead of just watching where they drop their keys. We always want a simple fix instead of finding the real cause.
