Drive caddies dying too fast on our Dell OptiPlex fleet
We went through 8 hot-swap drive caddies in 6 months across our office Dells, and I finally noticed a pattern. People were rocking the drives side to side instead of pulling straight out, bending those plastic tabs to hell. Anyone else see this same failure point on their workstations?

Haven't seen it quite that bad, but I've fixed a few by just bending the tabs back carefully with a small screwdriver. Most of the time it's from yanking the whole drive sled out at a weird angle. Gotta train people to pull straight out or just use a slower swap method.

Eight caddies in six months is wild, I feel your pain man. We only had 4 go bad in our office over about a year, but it was always those stupid plastic tabs getting snapped off exactly like you said.

Fix em by bending tabs back? That's a temporary bandaid at best, those things are designed to break. Honestly though, is swapping caddies that often really a make or break thing for your workflow?
