The change in how we learn comic book facts has me thinking.
Old school fans had to remember details or ask around. New fans can find everything instantly online. Which approach do you think creates more dedicated fans?

Was the struggle part of the fun?

Honestly I wonder if the struggle to find old comic info actually created more gatekeeping than dedication. Like you had to prove you earned your knowledge back then. But now someone can dive deep into a character's whole history in an afternoon and maybe connect with it differently. Does easier access help people find what they truly love faster, or does it make the fandom feel less special?

Yikes, my old-school "knowledge" is just a bunch of half-remembered trivia from crumpled comics in my basement. I probably argued wrong facts with way too much confidence before the internet could fact-check me in two seconds. So maybe easier access saves us from gatekeepers who, honestly, might not have known what they were talking about either.
