Talked to a dude at my local shop who changed my mind about variant covers

I always thought variant covers were just a cash grab, but this guy named Mike at Comic Kingdom in Denver showed me his 30 year collection of McFarlane variants. He said each one reminds him of a specific memory or con he went to, and suddenly I got why people hunt them down beyond the art. Has anyone else had a conversation that flipped how you see something in this hobby?

Wait, 30 years of just McFarlane variants? That's wild honestly.

Buddy of mine @the_charlie blew his whole con budget on those. No regrets though.

No regrets" is right. Heard those McFarlane figs hold value pretty well. Hope @the_charlie got some good wall hangers out of that haul.
