Reading old X-Men issues made me realize how much decompression has taken over

I pulled out UXM #141 from 1981 last weekend, and that whole Days of Future Past story wraps up in 2 issues. Now we get a 6 issue arc that covers maybe 10 minutes of real time. Do you ever miss when comics packed more into a single issue?

Honestly, I think this is the same thing we see everywhere now, not just comics. Look at TV shows now - 8 hour seasons that feel like they could have been a 2 hour movie. @hannahw30 mentioned the prices on 90s stuff but the real issue is pacing, people want their time respected. Ngl, I grabbed a 70s Daredevil run recently and each issue has like 3 subplots resolving while feeling complete. It's like we traded substance for splash pages and "cinematic" storytelling that doesn't actually say anything.

Did you peep how those old books trusted you to figure things out instead of explaining everything?

Yeah, I saw a 90s comic sell for $500 and almost choked.
