Rant: My comic shop guy in Fresno handed me a $1 back issue box and I actually filled the gaps in my run
So I have been hunting down the last 8 issues of a Peter David Hulk run for about a year and a half, and my usual shop in Fresno kept saying they never come through the door. Last Saturday the owner pulls out this beat up long box from behind the counter and goes, "a dude from Clovis dropped these off this morning, a buck each." I kid you not, 6 of my 8 missing issues were sitting right there, bagged and boarded but with a little water stain on a couple covers. I almost cried in the store over a comic with a coffee ring on it. The trick was just showing up in person every few weeks and actually talking to the guy instead of only checking the wall racks. Online hunting had me paying $12 plus shipping for the same books. Now I swing by every other Saturday and he saves stuff for me before it hits the bins. Does anybody else have a local shop guy who quietly sets books aside, or is that just a Fresno thing?
