Finally got a card shop to hold my pulls for me instead of grading on the spot

My LCS guy always tried to talk me into sending stuff in right away but I found out if you ask them to hold it for a week and come back with a fresh set of eyes you catch way more flaws. Saved me from paying $30 on a card that had a dimple I totally missed when I was hyped up. Any of you guys do the wait trick or just send it in hot?

Is it really that easy to miss stuff if you just slow down a little?

My buddy got burned hard doing this with a Charizard pull. He rushed it to PSA same day and missed a print line right across the art, came back a 7 instead of a possible 9. Now he waits at least overnight every time and catches stuff he'd never see in the moment.

The holding trick saved me more than once honestly. Put that card in a penny sleeve and top loader then stick it in a drawer for 48 hours minimum. Second time looking at it under a bright light always shows surface scratches or edge whitening that adrenaline made me miss. Just don't stare at it while you're still in the parking lot of the shop, wait till you get home with different lighting.
