Used to chase the perfect pour over every single morning, now I just want my coffee to taste the same twice
I spent almost two years treating my morning brew like a science project. Weighed the beans to a tenth of a gram, kept a little notebook with water temp, bloom time, all of it. I was buying single origin bags from this roaster in Sacramento every two weeks and logging every cup like it meant something. Then about 8 months ago I got a new job that starts at 6am and my whole ritual just died. Now I do a drip machine with pre ground beans and honestly? Most days it is fine. The part that gets me is I can not even tell anymore if the good cups were actually better or if I just liked having a hobby. I miss caring that much about it. Do any of you still keep a log, or did the log turn into a chore for you too?
