Rant: my grinder died mid pour on Saturday and I had 4 people over for a tasting
Saturday morning I had 4 friends coming over at 9 for a tasting of a natural Ethiopian I picked up in Portland, and my burr grinder quit on the second dose with a loud grinding sound. I ended up hand grinding 60 grams on a cheap backup while everyone watched, and the cup came out uneven because the particle size was all over the place. We still had fun, but I now know a dead grinder at the wrong time is a real problem when people are counting on you. Anyone keep a second grinder on standby, or do you just roll the dice like I did?
