Fell for those 'energy saving' window film kits - wasted $85 and my whole Saturday
I saw those UV blocking window film kits at the hardware store and figured I'd save on my cooling bill. The box said it would cut heat by 50 percent. I spent 4 hours installing it on three south facing windows in my Phoenix apartment. Turns out it peeled off within two weeks from the sun beating on it, and my AC still ran just as much. The adhesive left a gummy residue that took another hour to scrape off with a razor. Has anyone actually had luck with a brand of window film that holds up in direct desert heat?

Tbh ceramic tint for cars is a completely different product than window film for homes they don't work the same way. That $85 film was probably a cheap brand that cant handle direct sun no matter how careful you install it.

Did you check reviews on Amazon before buying? I heard a lot of those stick on films just can't handle the direct sun in hot climates like Phoenix or Vegas. Some people swear by the ceramic tint for cars, maybe that would actually work on windows.
