Rant: spent $340 on a rotary chimney brush setup and it just spins in place on clay tile flues
The rods flex so bad on anything over 20 feet that I'm basically polishing the same 3 feet of creosote for 40 minutes. Anyone got a rod brand that actually holds up in a 30 foot run, or am I stuck going back to the old flat wire brush?
That "polishing the same 3 feet of creosote" line hit way too close to home. I dropped almost 300 bucks on a rotary kit last fall and had the exact same problem, once you get past 20 feet the rods turn into spaghetti and the brush just sits there spinning. I even tried taping the rods together with hose clamps which helped a little but then the whole thing got too stiff to feed around the bends. Worst part is you can hear the motor working so you think its doing something but you pull it out and the creosote is still sitting there laughing at you. I ended up going back to the flat wire brush on fiberglass rods and honestly it cuts better even if my arms hate me after.
