My $2 thrift store chess set lost a knight, so I made a new one from a hotel soap bar
I was playing my buddy in the park near my apartment in Austin when our last knight went missing in the grass, and the game was basically over. Instead of buying a new set, I carved a replacement piece out of a tiny soap bar I swiped from a Holiday Inn, and we finished the match with it sitting right there on the board. It worked fine for 3 more games, but the soap kept sliding across the squares. Anyone else ever replace a game piece with random stuff from around the house?
