My aunt in El Paso asked why I throw out onion tops, and it made me rethink my whole grocery list
I was on the phone with my aunt in El Paso last month and she asked why I toss the green tops of green onions. I said that's just what you do, and she laughed at me. She chops them into her eggs and soups all month for free. I did the math and I was throwing away about $3 of food a week, which is almost $150 a year. Now I keep a bag of tops in the freezer and grab a handful for rice or beans. What other parts of veggies am I tossing that I should be saving?
