Picked the stable job over the dream job, 8 months later I'm still second-guessing
Back in March I had to choose between a union electrician gig with steady overtime in Phoenix and a solar install startup that promised more room to grow but paid $4 less an hour. I took the union job because my shop bills were piling up, and honestly the stability has been great for my finances. But I ran into the guy who took that solar position last week, and he's already running crews and learning the business side. Has anyone else picked the safe option and wondered if the risk would have paid off better?

Gosh, I get the pull, but you might be looking at this the wrong way. Those solar guys talk big about growth, but startups fold all the time, and a couple years of union experience is a solid foundation you can build on anywhere. The grass always looks greener, but your bills being paid and your skills banked is a gamble that pays off in its own way.
