Dropped $95 on a resume review and it got me a $12k raise
Three months ago I paid a guy in Austin $95 to tear apart my resume over a 45 minute call. At first I was annoyed because he rewrote almost the whole thing and cut my skills section down to 4 lines, but I started getting callbacks within a week. I ended up taking a job that pays $12,000 more than what I was making before. Has anyone else paid for one of these, and did it actually move the needle for you or was it a waste?
The part about cutting the skills section is what most people miss. We shove every random tool we touched onto there and it makes you look like you do a little of everything and nothing well. Four sharp lines probably made you look like an actual expert at something.
