Went from getting roasted in group chats to being the one making the jokes in just 6 months

Back in March, I accidentally made a tweet about pineapple on pizza that got me ratio'd by like 200 strangers and my own cousin screen-shotted it to make fun of me. Then I decided to lean into the joke instead of deleting it, started posting my own sarcastic replies, and now half the internet thinks I'm some kind of anti-cancel culture icon. Has anyone else seen their reputation flip that fast just by owning the cringe?

Flipping your reputation that fast usually means you're either genuinely funny or you just got lucky with the algorithm. Did you have to change your actual personality to keep up the bit, or did you just start saying what you always thought out loud?

Read something the other day about how a lot of comedians actually say their online persona is closer to who they really are than their regular day-to-day self. The whole thing about being quiet in person but loud online makes sense to me. Maybe the algorithm just caught onto something that was already there, you know? Seems like a lot of people fake it til they make it and then just lean into whatever worked.

Practically had to admit to myself I was holding back for years for no good reason. Leaning into the cringe just feels more honest than trying to be someone I'm not.
