Last Tuesday was my worst repair day in 10 years
I had three cameras come in that morning. First was a Nikon F2 with a shutter that sounded like grinding gravel. Opened it up and found a gear with teeth sheared clean off. Then a Canon AE-1 with a sticky mirror that turned out to be a corroded magnet. By 3 PM I got a Pentax K1000 that someone had tried to fix themselves. They used super glue on the light meter wires. Ruined the whole circuit board. Anyone else have a day where you just want to lock the shop door and go home?

People don't realize" is like the motto for our whole modern world honestly.

Man, that Pentax K1000 story hits hard. I had a guy bring in a Canonet QL17 once that he'd tried to fix with hot glue and duct tape. The hot glue was all over the rangefinder mechanism, absolutely melted some plastic parts inside. It took me three hours just to clean that mess up, and I still couldn't get it working right. People don't realize that super glue and hot glue are a death sentence for those tiny delicate parts inside a camera.
