Spent 20 years using a block plane for everything, finally got a low angle jack
I was that guy who thought one plane could do it all. Bought a Lie-Nielsen low angle jack plane at the Philly woodworking show back in 2018. Night and day difference for end grain and shooting boards. Has anyone else made the switch and felt like they were missing out for years?

Wait what" lol. I think you misread the post, he said he spent 20 years using a block plane for everything, not that he bought the low angle jack 20 years ago. He bought it in 2018 which was 6 years ago, so the 20 years was his total time with the block plane before that purchase. But yeah, I get it, the timeline in the first sentence is confusing. I actually did the same thing years ago with a Stanley 62, swapping out the blade for a thicker one from Hock. Made a huge difference on shooting boards compared to my old block plane.
