Showerthought: my $30 lodge cast iron skillet outlasted my $150 nonstick pan by 8 years

I bought both around the same time at a Target in Austin, thinking the expensive nonstick would be the buy it for life winner. The lodge has seen daily eggs and steaks while the nonstick started flaking after year 2 and I tossed it last month. Has anyone else had a cheap workhorse totally embarrass a premium gadget like that?

Ha the expensive stuff is always such a lie. My $15 nonstick from TJ Maxx started peeling in year one but my rusty old lodge just keeps on truckin like a champ.

Used to think you had to spend a lot to get good cookware @nelson.nancy but honestly you might be onto something. My old Lodge skillet is beat to hell but it still cooks eggs better than the fancy All-Clad I got for Christmas. Ngl it made me rethink dropping cash on that expensive stuff.

Ugh, preach! My beat-up Lodge has survived two moves and a kitchen fire, but my "premium" nonstick started shedding its soul after like 18 months. Cheap stuff just knows how to take a beating.
