That Tuesday when I broke down a whole steer with a dull knife

Had been putting off sharpening for weeks. Got to the second hind quarter around 10 AM and my wrist was already screaming. Took me almost 45 minutes just to get through the inside round on one side. Finally stopped at lunch to hit the stone for 10 minutes and finished the rest in under 2 hours. Anyone else ever push through a bad day like that instead of just stopping to fix the tool?

Ngl luna891 kinda nailed it with that cracked phone screen thing. I used to be one of those people who would stop everything to sharpen a knife the second it started dragging. Thought it was just common sense, you know? But then I spent three hours fighting through a brisket with a blade that could barely split paper and it taught me something weird. Sometimes the momentum of just getting through it matters more than stopping to be efficient. Felt stupid when I finally stopped to hit the stone and finished in half the time, but at least I learned that pushing through isn't always dumb.

Ngl I feel like that "pushing through instead of fixing the tool" thing is just how we live now. Like my phone screen has been cracked for six months and I keep telling myself I'll get it fixed next paycheck but then I just get used to it. Same with my car's check engine light that's been on since last summer. We just accept the extra struggle because stopping to fix stuff feels like a bigger waste of time than fighting through it. But then you finally do fix it and wonder why you put up with the misery for so long.
