Overheard a guy at the Columbus coffee shop say 'we bill for the meeting, not the work' and it stuck with me
I was waiting on my latte near the register and two consultants at the next table were talking about a client project, and one of them said flat out that their firm bills for every meeting, every call, and every email chain, not just the actual deliverable. That made me look at my own invoicing, because I keep eating 3 or 4 hours of calls every week and just calling it 'customer service.' For those of you who bill by the hour, do you actually track and charge for the small check-in calls, or do you write them off to keep clients happy?
