My bookkeeper quit 3 weeks before tax season and I had to figure out payroll myself
My bookkeeper of 4 years up and quit on January 2nd, right before the busiest money time of the year. I run a small dog grooming shop in Boise with 3 employees and I had no clue how payroll software even worked. The first check run took me 5 tries because I kept messing up the tax withholding part. I ended up calling a local CPA who walked me through QuickBooks for 45 minutes and charged me $150. Honestly that call saved me from late fees that would have been way worse. Now I want to know, do you guys keep a backup person for stuff like this or just hope your main one never leaves?
