My friend said to stop using washi tape as page markers, she was totally right

Last month my buddy Jen from my local meetup in Denver told me washi tape would wreck my journal pages over time, but I thought she was being dramatic. After 6 weeks the tape left sticky residue on 4 months of my weeklies and ripped the paper on two spreads when I tried to peel it off. Has anyone else found a repositionable tape that actually holds up for months without damaging the page?

Changed my mind too after finding sticky gunk on my favorite notebook last week.

Oh man, the SAME thing happened to me with my journal from 2021. Found a blob of sticky residue right in the middle of a page I wrote about my birthday that year. It had stuck to the page before it and ripped a tiny hole when I tried to separate them. Now I'm paranoid about using any kind of pen that isn't a plain ballpoint. I literally go through my notebooks every few months and gently check for any signs of goo or stickiness. It's such a bummer when you think you've found the perfect writing tool and then it ruins your stuff.
