Serious question, how do you all keep track of which fasteners go where on a teardown?
Used to just dump every bolt and screw into one coffee can and figure it out later, which cost me a whole Saturday on a riding mower rebuild back in April trying to find 4 matching shoulder bolts. Now I grab a cheap muffin tin from the dollar store, number the cups with tape, and sketch the part on a sticky note for each one. Last engine I pulled, a 12 hp Kohler, went back together in under 2 hours with zero leftover pieces. Curious if anyone here uses those magnetic trays with the printed layout instead, or if there's a better trick I'm missing.
