Realized I was paying $75 a month for a gym I never went to

I signed up for a fancy gym near my apartment in Austin last January, thought the new year hype would get me going. By March I had gone exactly twice, but I just kept auto-paying because I figured I'd get back to it. Then I found a crumpled receipt in my car from a smoothie place I hit up after a jog outside, and it hit me I was paying for a building I didn't even step foot in. I canceled that same day, started running at the park for free, and that $75 now goes straight into my savings. Has anyone else caught themselves paying for a membership they completely forgot they had?

Seventy five bucks a month is basically a couple of nice dinners or a tank of gas. It's not that much money to lose sleep over. People blow way more on subscriptions they barely use like streaming services or meal kits. You caught it, you cancelled it, problem solved. The yoga studio thing for eight months is a little more extreme but still not the end of the world. Life's too short to stress about a few wasted bucks on a gym membership.

Paid for a yoga studio for eight months without ever rolling out a mat.
