My landlord's one comment about utility bills changed my whole setup
Last month my landlord saw my electric bill for the 2 bedroom I rent in San Jose and said, "You're paying for heat you don't even use during the day." I work nights at the hospital, so I'm home sleeping through the hottest part of the day. He showed me how to set the thermostat on a timer for 6 AM to 2 PM at 64 degrees, then let it drop to 58 when I'm gone. That small tweak cut my bill by $23 the first month, and I didn't even feel colder. Has anyone else got advice from a landlord that actually worked out, or are they usually just trying to nickel and dime you?
