Vent: Tuna casserole I swore I'd never make again...

I used to hate canned tuna for budget meals, thought it was just sad and fishy. Then my neighbor Karen brought over her version last Tuesday with crushed potato chips on top and a little melted cheese... I actually asked for the recipe. Turns out if you use cream of mushroom soup and let it bake for 30 minutes at 350, it's totally different from the watery stuff I grew up with. Has anyone else had a cheap meal they were dead wrong about?

Tuna casserole is how I learned I can't trust my own memory from the 90s.

My mom made it with cream of chicken instead and I never looked back.

terryh20 your mom was onto something. Cream of chicken totally works better in that recipe, it adds way more flavor depth than the plain stuff. The chicken broth in the cream gives it that savory kick that just makes the whole dish come together. Once you go that route, going back to the standard version seems so boring and flat. It's one of those simple swaps that changes everything. Are you still making it her way every time?
