Used to buy name brand trash bags. Now I get the dollar store ones.

Three years ago I wouldn't touch anything but Glad ForceFlex. Spent like $12 a box. Then I moved to an apartment with smaller cans. Tried the dollar store ones for $1.25 a roll. They tear sometimes but honestly? For that price I just double bag it. Still saves me $40 a year easy. Anyone else downgrade on something stupid like trash bags and never looked back?

The cheap bag thing is just another example of how overpaying for brand names has become the real scam in life.

Wait you said $40 a year savings on trash bags? That actually kind of blew my mind when I did the math in my head. I've been using the cheap ones from the grocery store for a while now and yeah sometimes they split if I pack them too full but it's not like I'm hauling construction debris out of there. The name brand ones felt like a status symbol for my kitchen almost lol. Double bagging the dollar store ones is genius though I never thought of that I just cursed under my breath when they ripped.

Read somewhere that the cheap bags are actually thinner because they use less plastic, which means they're basically designed to fail with heavy loads. That $40 a year difference adds up over time, especially if you're already paying for bags that split. Kind of makes you wonder why anyone wouldn't just double bag the dollar store ones and call it a day.
