PSA: The "budget" grocery store in my town is actually more expensive now
I stopped into that Save-More off Route 9 yesterday thinking I'd save a few bucks. Grabbed a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, and some chicken thighs. Total came to $18.42. Last week the same stuff at the regular chain store cost me $16.80. How does the place that markets itself as budget friendly charge more for basic stuff? The chicken was $0.30 more per pound and the bread was almost a dollar extra. Has anyone else noticed their local discount grocery stores creeping up in price?

Huh, @vera_campbell that chicken markup sneaks up on you, but the real trick is they shrink the package sizes too.

That $0.30 more per pound on chicken really gets me. Did you notice if the produce section was also jacked up or was it just the packaged stuff like bread?
