Took me 10 hours to replace a $12 thermostat last Saturday
I thought swapping a house thermostat would be a quick 30 minute job. Five hours in I realized the wiring diagram from 1992 made no sense with my new smart unit. Had to drive 45 minutes to a hardware store for a different adapter plate. Spent another 3 hours on the phone with support because the app wouldn't connect. By the time I got the AC running it was 9pm and I was drenched in sweat. Anyone else waste a full day on something that should have been simple?

Did you at least save the old manual like a cursed relic for the next homeowner? Honestly, 10 hours for a $12 part is brutal but so relatable. I swear every house has that one project where the wiring was done by a drunk monkey in the 80s. And the app thing is the worst, you fix the hardware but then the software fights you for another hour. At least you got the AC running finally, thats a win in my book lol.

Did you at least save that old thermostat manual for the next poor soul who buys your house?
