Am I the only one who thinks lying to spare feelings at work is way worse than just being blunt?
Two coworkers and I had to review each other's projects for a client in Denver. One guy gave me soft feedback like 'maybe consider rethinking the color' and I spent a whole weekend fixing something that wasn't even broken. The other one just said 'this section is confusing, cut it' and I fixed it in 20 minutes. Six months later, the nice guy's project got torn apart by the client and he had no idea why. I would much rather hear 'this sucks' than waste my time guessing what you really mean. Why do people think being nice is the same as being helpful?
