Remember when we used to strike joints by eye?
Was laying an extension wall yesterday and got to thinking about my first crew back in 1998 out near Dayton. Back then we had one story pole, a line, and a level. Nobody had lasers or digital angle finders, we just checked our work with a straightedge and called it good. The courthouse we did still looks plumb today, but I can't say the same for some of the robot-assisted work I've seen go up in the last 5 years. Does anyone else think the new tech makes guys lazy about reading the wall as they go, or am I just old and cranky?
