Showerthought: my old DVD rip of Dawn of the Dead ran 12 minutes longer than my Blu-ray, and I finally figured out why
Spent an evening doing a side by side on my living room setup with a stopwatch, because I am that kind of nerd. The DVD from 2004 had a whole scene in the mall basement that the Blu-ray just cuts off. Same movie, same runtime listed on both cases. Turns out the newer disc used a different source print. If you have two copies of the same movie, time them both. You might be missing a scene and not even know it. Has anyone else caught a shorter cut hiding on a newer disc?
