Three hours to fix one misaligned spine on a single book

I spent a whole Saturday carefully measuring and recutting a new spine piece because the first one was off by 2 millimeters. Has anyone else fought with a project for hours over something that tiny?

Isn't sanding down the last little bit always more satisfying than getting it perfect the first time?

I read somewhere that in old-school bookbinding, they'd purposely overshoot measurements by a hair just to sand them down later. Sounds like you went the hard way but it paid off.
