I finally stopped letting our book club pick books by just shouting out titles over coffee.

After our March meeting where we spent 45 minutes arguing over whether to read 'Klara and the Sun' or a 900-page fantasy epic, I created a simple Google Form with three options and a one-sentence pitch for each, which cut our selection time down to under 10 minutes and got everyone genuinely excited for 'The Vanishing Half'.

Implement a voting system with ranked choices next time, because it stops people from getting stuck on just one option. We did that after two people kept vetoing any mystery novels, and now we all feel like our preferences actually matter. It makes the whole process way less stressful.

@king.stella I see your point but simpler voting works fine if you just let everyone list their top two.

How did you get your group to agree to try it? I always thought ranked choice sounded way too complicated for our book club, but we had the same veto problem with historical fiction. Seeing it work for you makes me want to push for it.
