Book club meltdown over a single paragraph last Tuesday
We were discussing chapter 12 of this historical fiction novel about the Oregon Trail. One member said the author got the date of a river crossing wrong by 3 days. Another pulled out a map from 1847 to prove her right. The debate got so heated the host had to take a 10 minute break. Has anyone else had a book club argument that nearly ended a friendship over a tiny detail?

Three days off and she had a map from 1847 ready to go... that's some serious Oregon Trail commitment right there.

Actually the date thing might not even be wrong, I looked it up after reading a similar book and there were like three different start dates used by different wagon companies that year. Probably worth checking which company the author was following before assuming it's an error (historical fiction writers often pick a specific source). Honestly though, a 10 minute break over a three day difference sounds like someone needed to chill a little.
