Thought the old torch trick for stubborn bolts was just shop talk.

Had a flange on a 12-inch steam line in Toledo that wouldn't budge after three days of PB Blaster. My foreman said to heat it with the torch, then tap it with a brass hammer, not a steel one. It popped on the second tap. What's your go-to for seized fittings when penetrant alone fails?

Ever try a candle for heat on smaller stuff? I had a frozen bleeder valve on a boiler that gave up after holding a plain candle under it for a minute. The wax even seeps in a little as it cools.

Always thought you needed a proper torch for that kind of job. The candle trick actually worked on a stuck bathroom sink valve for me last winter. Might keep one in the toolbox now.

I mean, who needs a fancy torch when you can just light a candle and pretend you're doing some kind of ritual plumbing?" Next thing you know, we'll be using birthday candles on shower drains.
