Warning: That deluxe splendor set I bought fell apart during game 2

I was at my kitchen table last Saturday setting up the fancy metal coins and thick player boards from the new splendor collection, and by the time my friend grabbed the first noble tile the whole corner of the box insert split open spilling tokens everywhere, and has anyone else had these thick box inserts just crumble after a single use?

Used to think those fancy inserts were just a bonus, but after watching mine crack under almost no pressure I'm totally seeing your point now. It's disappointing when the packaging can't even hold up for the first game, let alone the heavy use it’s supposed to handle. Def makes me question if the extra cost is really worth it when the basic stuff is way more reliable.

Maybe the glue they used was defective from the factory.

Not sure I totally buy that it's a factory defect. In my experience, most of the time when stuff fails early, it's more about how the product was designed in the first place. The glue might be fine in a controlled setting, but if the insert isn't built to handle real world use, it's gonna crack no matter what. I've seen this pattern where companies cheap out on the overall build to keep costs down, then point fingers at the adhesive. Your mileage may vary, but I'd bet the issue is the whole package, not just one ingredient.
