Swapped my board game shelf from alphabetical to by player count last weekend
I used to just throw games on the shelf wherever they fit, which meant Ticket to Ride sat next to Terraforming Mars. Last Saturday I got sick of digging through piles and sorted everything by how many players it supports. Now I can grab 7 Wonders without moving 5 other boxes around. Anyone else reorganize their collection based on a specific rule like that?

See I actually kinda disagree with sorting by play time. For me, having games grouped by player count makes game night setup way smoother, especially when you have guests over and have no idea how long the night will run. Time estimates can be real loose anyway depending on how slow players talk through their turns.

36 games in, I sorted by color of the box once and it looked pretty but was a nightmare to find anything. I actually sorted by play time last year and it changed EVERYTHING for me. Short games on the top shelf, medium in the middle, long stuff on the bottom. That way I can grab something quick without pulling down a 4 hour monster like Twilight Imperium. You might try it if you ever get bored of player count.
