My Catan group lost its mind over a sheep port, and the board got flipped
So we were 3 hours into a 4 player Catan night at my buddy Dave's place in Sacramento last Friday, and I had 9 points with a sheep port locked down. Dave rolled a 7, put the robber on my only sheep hex, and then my other friend Jen traded him two wheat for one ore right in front of me. I pointed out that deal gave Dave the win, Jen said she was just being nice, and next thing I know Dave's cat is on the table and half the roads are under the couch. We spent 20 minutes sorting pieces by color while Dave kept saying he didn't even want to win that way. Does anyone have a house rule for blocking kingmaking trades, or do you just let friendships end naturally?
Our table has a rule where you can't trade with someone who's about to win unless you're also close to winning. Sounds dumb but it killed like 90 percent of the drama. Also Dave's cat is the real winner here.
